Join Us, In Saving Lives And Engineering The Future
We are a diverse team of talented people who are dedicated to building technology that radically improves human lives.
The Utah Slant Electrode Array is a breakthrough in neurotechnology research, offering a high-resolution, low-noise, and wide-dynamic range platform for peripheral nerve recording and stimulation. Its strong record of safety and effectiveness has made it the industry benchmark tool for neurophysiology research in humans and animals.
The Utah Slant Array utilizes electrode lengths from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm on a linear grading. This design provides cross-sectional coverage of nerve fascicles for simultaneous recording and a superior signal-to-noise ratio.
The Slant Array has been approved for use in humans, both chronically and sub-chronically, under the FDA’s Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) regulation. Blackrock can assist your research team with obtaining IDE and IRB approvals.
The Slant Array has been successfully recording chronically for over ten years in primates and 6 years in humans. The iridium oxide allows for stimulation and recording without deterioration over time producing stable thresholds and high charge capacitance. The helical wire bundle is designed with added strain relief for increased longevity of the device.
The Utah Slant Electrode Array is compatible with a range of recording and stimulation systems, allowing researchers to use it in conjunction with a wide variety of other tools and techniques. The arrays offer customizable electrode counts, substrate dimensions, and materials. This makes it a highly versatile and flexible tool that can be adapted to a wide range of research applications.
With its high-density slanted electrode design and superior signal-to-noise ratio, the Utah Array enables researchers to gain premiere insights into peripheral neurophysiology. It has proven to be a valuable tool for intramuscular and intraneural recording, developing control systems for neuroprosthetics, providing sensory feedback, and analyzing chronic pain.
